i live across from the cemetery
so i see a lot of folk dressed in Sunday
best sat on camping chairs saying names
that haven’t echoed for ages Sara
& i can’t decide whether it’s more
worthy to be in duty or in service to our people
anyway she prays & i do the same take another
media interview about the latest burglary charges against us
we complain we smoke too much but it ain’t a problem
in fact it’s the only time i take a deep breathe all day Taz says
& me & Cooke nod & innit yeah same
i try herding my angels into one room
at night i’m a little bit sheepdog
surrendering the fan rotates at our feet
a sunflower oblivious to which way she’s facing
